Guidelines for Shodex Column Selection : Proteins, Peptides and Amino Acids

For the analysis of proteins, peptides and amino acids, a variety of Shodex columns are available using different separation modes such as GFC, reversed phase, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, multimode and affinity chromatography. GFC columns are suitable for the first screening of unknown samples, whereby substances elute in decreasing order of molecular weight. Reversed phase columns which are most widely used separate by substances by the difference of hydrophobicity. For the selection of the most effective column, it is also important to set up the right conditions for the eluent according to the sample charasteristics.
